On Tuesday, Albany Creek State High proudly celebrated the official launch of our AFL Program with a great day of learning, connection and school spirit.

We were delighted to welcome Brisbane Lions players Dayne Zorko and Harris Andrews for a special panel discussion, led by our Head of Department for Health and Physical Education, Adam Nicholson. Dayne and Harris shared thoughtful insights about leadership, teamwork and performing at your best both on and off the field. Their positive messages strongly resonated with our students and staff.

We also enjoyed hosting students from our local primary schools, who wasted no time getting involved in AFL drills using our new goal posts. The oval was full of energy, with plenty of smiles and enthusiasm throughout the session.

A key moment of the day was the official ribbon cutting to mark the opening of our new AFL goal posts. Our Principal, Derek Weeks, led the ceremony alongside Dayne and Harris, Wally Gallio from the Aspley Hornets AFC, and Chanel Fletcher from AFL Queensland. It was a proud milestone for our growing program and a wonderful example of community partnerships creating opportunities for students.

The celebration finished with a sausage sizzle, autograph signing and lots of friendly conversation.

Thank you to our special guests, our partner organisations including AFL Queensland and the Aspley Hornets AFC, and the staff and students who helped make the day such a success. We look forward to seeing what our students achieve through this exciting program in the months ahead.
