What makes Year 7 so successful @AC?
Our planning for your child starts the year before as we work closely with our partner primary schools to get to know your child before they enrol. If your child comes to us from one of our partner primary schools, they may have attended our school for robotics, science enrichment, dance, music or interschool sport. Your child may already know some of our staff and have worked with our student leaders. These opportunities allowed our school to provide some insight into high school life which will assist in a smoother transition.
Our Year 7 teaching team work with our partner primary schools prior to your child’s arrival to gauge academic ability, understand how your child best learns and discuss special requirements they have to enable them to thrive in high school. Our learning support teachers liaise with the primary school support staff and, on orientation day, our Year 7 teachers and your child’s current Year 6 teacher discuss how we can best cater for their learning and engagement.
The school leadership of both Albany Creek State High School and our partner primary schools have also worked closely to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.
This is why we have happy kids in Year 7 at our school.
