Albany Creek State High School’s Environment Committee have a focus on student involvement and student led activities like Earth Hour and World Environment Day to name just a few. Students and teachers are active in the school community through planting, recycling and compositing initiatives that all students can participate in.
The Environment Committee also seeks to involve the wider community through encouraging people to walk to work when possible, to adopt a tree and take the education about sustainability back into each and every home.
Keep an eye out for future newsletters where national and international events and school activities are published.
The Environment Committee has been busy planning and creating other outdoor environmental spaces and introducing worthwhile recycling programs.
Last year the Environmental club was involved in tree planting activities near the tennis courts Q block and the pathway down to administration, in setting up bins to collect plastic bottles and cans for recycling.
This year we expect to expand these programs and we are looking for more students to become involved.
