2022 Players' Player of The Year Awards

We finished off what was a great year for POE - Football with our highly regarded 'Players' Player of The Year' and 'Most Improved Player' awards.
Congratulations go to the following students for deserved recognition from their peers:
Year 7 – Pablo Manrique
Year 8 – Ronan Wiles
Year 9 – Ryan Sharma
Year 10 – Felix Hooper Key
Year 11 – Seth Elsworth
Year 12 – Isaac Brown
Congratulations also goes to Nicole Montgomery of Year 8 on receiving 'The Most Improved Junior Player' award and Zac Griffin of Year 11 for 'The Most Improved Senior Player' award 2022.

Fernanda from Year 8 POE – Football class represented Queensland at the National Futsal Championships held in Melbourne over the Summer holidays, with the team finishing in second place. The team fought hard throughout the competition, earning their place in the grand final where they faced the Victorian team with the score tied at 3-3 by the end of extra time. Unfortunately, Queensland lost in penalties.
We are very proud of Fernanda and her Queensland team.

Keeyon from Year 10 POE – Football class represented the North Coast in National Club Futsal Championships held in Sydney.
Keeyon played as their goalkeeper. The team was undefeated in the group stages playing against 6 other teams across Australia. Unfortunately, they lost in the Quarter finals on golden goal. Keeyon’s great performance saw him invited to represent Australia in U15 boy's category in Montesilvano Futsal Cup, being held in June/July School holidays in Italy. This is an international youth futsal tournament with 20 nations competing in different categories.
Congratulations Keeyon and your success.

Luca from Year 10 POE – Football class has been playing fustal for the Sunshine Coast Wave in the SEQ Futsal Premier League, and his team were crowned Premiers.

This is the Premier futsal league in Queensland and forms part of the state's pathway for elite futsal players.
Congratulations Luca on your success.

During the recent school holidays a number of our senior Football Excellence students were involved with the National Club Futsal Championships. The boys did themselves proud by reaching the semi-finals against quality opposition. A special highlight was the recognition of Shauyon from Year 12.
Shauyon received the golden gloves award and was selected in the All-Stars team, which recognised his outstanding goalkeeping performance. Shauyon was also selected to go with the squad of 12 Footballers to Spain in September this year, to represent Australia in U17s International Futsal Alliance Cup.
What great recognition for the hard work and commitment shown by Shauyon. Congratulations and well done!
