eSports is the fastest growing industry in the world with clear pathways to university through scholarships and tertiary study as well as clubs and employment in the industry. It is based around teams competing against each other in video game tournaments.
Albany Creek runs both social eSports and also has competitive teams who compete in local and national competitions.
The eSports competition team at Albany Creek State High School participates in the QUT eSports High School League, Acer High Schools Cup and SEQEL (South East Queensland eSports League).
Students receive online safety and wellbeing lessons from industry experts during the course of the league. Students are mentored in the latest gaming, broadcasting and streaming practices including:
- Game play
- Team work
- Online communication
- Casting
- Moderating
- Streaming
eSports is a serious business with new eSports job opportunities appearing weekly for commentators, event managers, journalists, content creators, photographers, coaches, and sales and marketing executives. There are also direct links to post-secondary education and external sporting clubs including:

- XP Esports (Adult and Highschool leagues)
