The Program of Excellence—Media Arts at Albany Creek State High School provides students with opportunities to develop creative, critical and practical skills by providing them with experiences in the area of media production and design.
The extra-curricular programs offered to Junior and Senior students aligns with the New TV, Film and Media Curriculum with extended opportunities to develop and apply practical skills and to connect and engage with industry professionals. The Media Program of Excellence in this way will set up our aspiring film makers with a pathway into the profession!
Overview
The Program of Excellence—Media Arts is conducted as an extra-curricular program one afternoon per week. In 2025 the Program of Excellence—Media Arts is only offered to Year 7 and Year 8 students.

Goals of the program
Students will have opportunities to:
- Plan, produce and distribute media art works
- Develop, practice and realise works of a professional standard
- Engage with industry professionals and access feedback and mentoring through the Artist in Residence Program
- Experience the media industry in a professional environment through the excursion program
Outcomes of the program
This program supports our students in preparing for pathways into tertiary studies and the thriving film and media industry. A showcase of developed works.to audiences at an end of year red-carpet event!
Selection
Students will be asked to submit a 1–2 minute creative response to the stimulus “The world how I see it" and email their file to Ms. Rigby on erigb7@eq.edu.au
In addition, students’ academic, effort and behaviour records will be considered.
