The initiative is designed to ensure that all students have the opportunity to be immersed in a technology rich teaching and learning environment. The program is striving to be affordable for all parents while at the same time enhancing ICT learning opportunities for all students.

As part of the roll out of the BYO iPad Program at the school has prepared a number of "HowTo" documents to assist parents and students to set up their devices.

Important steps

To assist you to prepare your iPad for use in the Albany Creek SHS BYO iPad Program for Year 7, 8 and 9 there are a number of important steps to follow.

1/ If you don't already own a suitable iPad purchase one from a retailer of your choice. (Please check our iPad specifications for minimum requirements).

2/ Download and where necessary purchase the apps found in the Albany Creek SHS Apps List. (Note mandatory apps must be purchased and installed before Day One).

3/ Set up your iPad to join the Albany Creek SHS network environment. A "How To" document has been prepared to assist you with this step.

Preferred device

iPad Gen 9 (Wi-Fi only) 64GB of memory.

Devices do not require cellular access and parents may disable 3G/4G functionality  by removing the SIM card if a device with this capability is already owned.

We are often asked whether a device other than an iPad can be used for the Albany Creek State High School BYO iPad program?

The simple answer is no. Albany Creek State High School  have decided that the iPad best meets our needs and context. Other devices will not be permitted to join our network.

When purchasing an iPad you may also purchase any accessories such as a carry case, apple pencil or click on keyboards. A combination case/keyboard is a great option and should be considered.

Breakages and repairs

Basic problem solving and device support will be provided by the school.

Parents as owners of the device are responsible for breakages and damage. Parents should counsel their children about the proper use and care of the device to reduce potential breakages.

Parents are advised to take out insurance or adjust their current insurance policy to ensure that the iPad is covered at school for damage, loss and breakages.
